James Lovell has worked in Events, P.R. and Entertainment for over 30 years.

James Lovell
... has written and directed shows for the BBC, Walt Disney Company, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Mattel and multiple brands ranging from Butlin's to Harrods.
He has produced some of the UK’s most memorable publicity stunts and experiential campaigns, broken several world records and created the nation's only professional Santa School.
Writer
As a street performer, James created his first show for Bonkers Clowning Company in 1987.
In the 1990s, he wrote and presented his own children’s TV series on BSkyB. He has since published several joke books and created stage productions for children’s titles including Adventure Time, Mr Men, LazyTown and Thomas and Friends.
The BBC has commissioned James to write and produce live stage shows spanning a range of subjects including WW1 At Home for the 100th anniversary of the Great War, and The Space Race for BBC Stargazing Live.
At Christmas time, James continues to work very closely with the real Santa, creating pantomimes and magical grottos all over the UK.
Director & Producer
In 1997 James produced his first PR stunt: a Pantomime Cow Convention in Trafalgar Square for Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream.
Soon afterwards he founded events and entertainment company, The Ministry of Fun. Over two decades later, after several years as Creative Director of Feejee Mermaid Live, he created James Lovell Productions Ltd (2020).
Amongst the hundreds of projects that he’s directed and produced over the years, there have been stage tours, circus & street shows, pantomimes, Christmas grottos, festivals, promotions, guerrilla campaigns, flashmobs, projections, flying pigs and giant installations.
But James is possibly best known for creating Santa School, the UK’s only genuine training school for professional Father Christmases. In 2014, this festive institution was the subject of Bad Santas, a TV documentary series made with Twenty Twenty Television for Channel 4.
And Finally ...
James's career has followed no elaborate plan. In 1993 he appeared at a royal film premiere dressed as Bugs Bunny; and he spent most of 1994 wearing a chicken costume. Today, as Managing Director of James Lovell Productions, he is working alongside some of the UK's best-known brands, attractions and PR companies.
James produces events, entertainment, stunts and experiential campaigns all over the UK and beyond. He still dresses up in costumes; he teaches circus skills; he directs a Santa School; and he runs training sessions designed to help people perform and interact with confidence.
His strategy has been to say "Yes" to (almost) everything. In doing so, he has enjoyed success and fun in equal measures.
He'd love to help you do the same.
